Episode 19 - Patricia Peña

In this week’s episode, I had the privilege to chat with Patricia Peña, a Licensed marriage and family therapist with her own private practice, Patricia Peña Therapy LLC. where she provides individual and family therapy to children, teens, adults, and families.

Paty is employed full time at Children’s Research Triangle as their Senior Bilingual Child and Family Therapist and Early Childhood Advisor. She plays multiple roles at CRT including running parenting groups, individual and family therapy, and providing clinical consultation with therapists on staff. Paty practices various forms of therapy such as Theraplay, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Brainspotting, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, etc. She specializes in treating trauma and attachment issues.

She’s also the co-founder of Chicago Latinx Therapy Group, a networking group for Latinx psychotherapists which makes her great advocate for other people in her field.

We’ve grown our relationship online after meeting in 2020 through Chicago Latina Moms Group, and I love her positive and genuine energy. She’s even serves on the Chicago Latina Moms Board as the Secretary. Her kindness is perfect for her profession.

She shares a lot of great info on therapy and also encouragement to elevate the next generation of therapists.

Isn’t she just someone you want to hang out with!? Not only did she share about the value of therapy, but she shared with us great ways to find a therapist so it doesn’t have to be an overwhelming process.

She is such a strong advocate for her peers and anyone else in her field. And I’m encouraged to see other Latinx graduates see the value of pursuing a career in therapy and helping those in their communities.
